Puppy Education Classes

Goal: Starting your puppy off right with a class that encourages good behaviors while helping him to establish a strong & lasting bond with everyone in your family.

• For puppies 12 weeks to 6 months old - Copy of shot records or letter from Vet is needed.
• Certificate of completion will be earned.

Required items: 6 foot Lead, check chain collar and 20 foot training lead (opt)

This 8 week class will address the basic commands (Sit, Stay, Down and Come) that will establish the ground work that is needed in your future training. All training will be done while the dog is on lead. All family members are encouraged to participate in the training.

We will cover a lot of areas of common concern for anyone who owns a new puppy. Some areas that will be covered are:

• Introduction to simple commands such as sit, down, come and stay
• Basic manners
• Good games to play for building strong bonds
• Socialization with people and other dogs
• Ideas on how to better puppy proof your home
• Tips on puppy health, grooming and nutrition

Most important thing to remember is that both the dog and handler have fun and enjoy the time together while they are training. You are encouraged to do 15 to 20 minutes a day of training on the homework that will be assigned after each class. There will also be hand outs after each class to help re-enforce what was covered in class.

We realize that accidents do happen especially with puppies. The handler is expected to clean up any messes that might happen; cleaning supplies will be furnished by DDU.

In order to pass this class you will need to attend 7 of the 8 classes. Should you miss a class there are various ways to make it up, just let us know and we will be happy to make arrangements.
