Advanced Education Classes

Goal: Increase your dogs ability to respond to remote commands and start specialized training programs.

• Prerequisite: Completion of Intermediate class - or - demonstrate appropriate skill level

Required items: 6 foot Lead, check chain collar and 20 foot training lead

Some areas that will be covered are:

• Distance training
• Loose lead & off Lead work
• How to deal with normal behavior problems
• How to keep your dog in learning mode while surrounded by distractions
• Good games to play
• Specialized training ie: trailing, hunting, therapy dogs, agilities work

Most important thing to remember is that both the dog and handler have fun and enjoy the time together while they are training. You are encouraged to do 15 to 20 minutes a day of training on the homework that will be assigned after each class.

Each handler is to maintain control of his/her dog at all times. Desert Dogs Unleashed (DDU) will not tolerate any type of aggression with other dogs or people. If you believe there is a problem or a potential one, we can address this prior to the beginning of class. The handler is also expected to clean up any messes that might happen; cleaning supplies will be furnished by DDU.

This is when the training really starts to get fun, all of your hard work in the basics begin to pay off big. Both you and your dog will enjoy the new places and opportunities you will find while attending this class.
